Cheeky backpackers have reportedly come up with a novel way of saving money while travelling around Australia.
After booking their flights, their
backpacker travel insurance and buying a set of wheels, many travellers find themselves short of cash at some point in their great adventure.
Due to this, local authorities in the Northern Territory have called on backpackers to cease from using an historic cemetery as a makeshift camping ground for their campervans and tents.
According to Northern Territory News, the penny-pinching tourists have also been using the facilities there to wash and cook before moving on and, while the mayor of the town of Katherine has revealed that he is more bemused than angry, he has asked travellers to splash out on proper camping facilities from now on.
Australia's Northern Territory has long been popular with
backpacker travel insurance customers looking to get into the Outback.
As well as Uluru, the state is also the home of the Kakadu National Park.
