New figures suggest that more
worldwide travel insurance customers are using flights abroad.
Statistics from the International Air Transport Association (IATA) revealed that there was a 0.5 per cent rise in air passenger demand during October.
This rise is in comparison to the same month of last year.
John Weber, senior vice president at airline information experts OAG Aviation, said that this increase is "very significant for the industry".
She commented: "Stronger demand for seats and high load factors will have a positive impact on yields and revenues. Keep your eyes on the IATA stats for November and December 2009.
"Seat capacity for those months grew by two per cent and four per cent respectively over 2008."
She concluded by saying that further cutbacks in capacity will depend on whether or not there are enough travellers to fill the seats on offer next year.
