Jet-setting travellers have been urged to pack something blue to wear as well as take out
gap year travel insurance if they're heading to Australia for the New Year.
Widely-regarded as a highlight of any trip Down Under, the New Year's fireworks display in Sydney's harbour is set to take on an environmental theme this year.
However, the city's party planners have called upon revellers thinking of heading to one of the 40 vantage points dotted around the world-famous harbour to sport something blue for the evening's celebrations.
The event's creative director Rhonda Roberts told the Sydney Morning Herald: "It is the colour of our amazing harbour, it is the colour of that gorgeous summer sky.
"Sydney's spirit is sexy, she's soulful and sophisticated. This New Year's Eve we want to awaken that spirit."
On the night itself, however, another traditional travel highlight for backpackers taking out
