Gay travellers looking for specialist gay and lesbian tour operators are urged to buy
backpacker travel insurance before setting off.
Canadian gay-owned travel operator Out Adventures has formed a partnership with Australian-owned company Intrepid Travel, to offer closed-party adventure trips aimed specifically at gay and lesbian backpackers and travellers. Tours will be run by gay or gay-friendly personnel and will encompass a wide range of adventure experiences around the world, utilising Intrepid's experience in the market.
Robert Sharp, Out Adventures executive vice president and co-founder, said: "This strategic partnership allows us to offer a safe, comfortable environment for our passengers to get out and experience the real world."
Intrepid Travel said that recent research from the United States indicated that choosing a tour operator with a good gay-friendly reputation was an important factor for 98 per cent of gay and lesbian travellers.
Backpacker travel insurance remains a vital addition for any overseas travel plans.
