People looking for duty free shopping discounts by booking online with Virgin Atlantic have the option of buying
cheap travel insurance.
Consultancy firm Pragma reports that people choosing to book on the internet for Virgin Atlantic flights between now and August 31st are being rewarded with discounts on onboard duty free items.
The discount on offer is relatively small but could be enough to convince travellers who are comparing and contrasting available offers to get the best deals on flights.
Mark Entwistle, divisional director at Pragma, said: "Offering £6 off from £30 is not drastic - it is cutting their margin but they do get more people checking in online and have fewer queues."
The offer works out for the airline as it means it is less reliant on physical check-in desks, which cost more to keep open and maintain.
Backpackers looking for good flight deals could also protect themselves with
worldwide travel insurance.
In related news, budget carrier Ryanair will have completely phased out check-in desks by October this year.
