People planning to use cheap AirAsia flights to get to the Far East could consider
cheap travel insurance while they plan their trip.
The Star reports that AirAsia X is to launch a cheap service between London Stansted and Kuala Lumpur from the middle of this week, with 5,000 seats sold at a special rate of just £99.
Launching the service will mark the initiation of one of the cheapest long-haul flights between Europe and Asia, which could turn Kuala Lumpur into a transport hub.
Kathleen Tan, regional head of commerce for AirAsia X, told the website: "I feel this would be one of those moments that would unite south-east Asians and spur us to think more about how we can better promote our region."
A variety of world cuisine will be served on the flights for £7, while blankets and pillows will be available for £5.
Using the new service may come in handy for cash-strapped tourists seeking long-haul travel for the lowest possible prices. All visitors have the option of buying
backpacker travel insurance.
Kuala Lumpur is the Malaysian capital and is home to around 1.3 million.
