One-way travel insurance could be chosen by backpackers planning a visit to a popular resort at Pacific Harbour in Fiji.
Fiji Times reports that although the country is experiencing the effects of the global downturn with reduced tourism, the Uprising Resort was completely full over the Easter weekend.
The resort had both local and international guests, while its roster of nearly 90 employees are still working their normal hours, rather than having to take reduced contracts like many other hotels in the region.
Leone Yaragamudu, operations, beverages and food manager at the hotel, told the website: "We have an open-door policy where both local and overseas guests are given the same priority. We also have one-day guests who just come to enjoy the beach activities and the food."
Volleyball and touch-rugby are two of the range of sports available to guests, which could appeal to backpackers with
worldwide travel insurance.
The region could be of interest to American travellers as well, as Dailycamera.com reports that more US students are beginning to take gap years like their European counterparts.
