Anyone planning on getting involved in Backpacker magazine's Summit for Someone charity climbing expedition could prepare for their trip by taking out
worldwide travel insurance.
The publication opened registration for the appeal yesterday (October 12th) and interested climbers can apply to take part online.
Those taking part in next year's trip will face the challenge of tackling one of 16 of North America's highest peaks, including the legendary Devil's Tower and Mount Whitney.
While raising money for deprived inner city teenagers, climbers will be led by experienced guides as they follow the route of their choice.
The trip has become an annual fundraising event for Big City Mountaineers, an organisation introducing urban young people to outdoor activities.
When registering their interest fundraisers are invited to pick one of the listed mountains, each of which has a sponsorship amount attached to it.
They can then choose to pay for the climb themselves or ask friends and family to stump up the cash.
The Colorado-based charity runs a number of programmes for young people, including mountain biking, canoeing and snowshoeing days.
