Britons planning a trip to the Rhone-Alpes region of eastern France could benefit from
cheap travel insurance.
Nearly 30 per cent of international visitors who head to the region are British and skiing is the primary pull, according to Rhone-Alpes Tourisme.
In addition to skiing, a wide variety of outdoor activities in a range of nature parks and great lakes attract people from all over the world.
Isabelle Faure, promotions manager for northern and central Europe at Rhone-Alpes Tourisme, said: "The British people were the first visitors to the region and 70 to 80 per cent of them come to ski. Some of them are doing golf, outdoor activities, gastronomy and wine."
She added that ski slopes cater for all levels of experience, while the region also has its own wine, named Beaujolais. Skiers may choose to get hold of appropriate
backpacker travel insurance for peace of mind.
According to the Rhone-Alpes press kit for 2009, the region accounts for ten per cent of France's tourism sector, making it the second-largest in the country.
