Keen skiers are urged to buy
online travel insurance as they prepare for their trip, although they must ensure that their chosen policy covers skiing accidents.
Fairinvestment.co.uk reports new findings from esure which reveal that nearly 20 per cent of travellers planning to ski or do other winter sports on their trip are planning to save money by ignoring the need for travel insurance. This opens up travellers to enormous risk as the cost of medical treatment overseas can be huge without the proper coverage.
Mike Pickard, head of travel insurance at esure, told the website: "The growing popularity of less-established winter resorts increases the importance for skiers to have suitable cover."
While travellers with bigger budgets may head to the Rocky Mountains or the Swiss Alps, many skiers are heading to closer destinations such as Poland and Scotland to save money, while skiing is also available in New Zealand's Southern Alps.
Anyone planning on taking part in any winter sports, be it skiing, snowboarding or anything in between, should buy
online travel insurance to cover themselves.
