Online travel insurance an option as people travel further with good deals

People following good deals to travel further in the world could consider buying worldwide travel insurance.

Lastminute.com reports that reduced travel prices are encouraging more people to take long-haul trips to parts of the world that would not have been an option 20 years ago.

Locations such as Australia, Thailand and the United Arab Emirates are becoming better known to British tourists as travel prices have made them far more accessible.

Mark Bower, lifestyle sales director at lastminute.com, said: "These are destinations which were not as well known before and now they are getting themselves on the map."

Many young people are making travel plans to popular backpacking destinations like Australia and New Zealand owing to the lack of graduate jobs in the UK. People could buy gap year travel insurance.

A study from Abta - The Travel Association and the Foreign and Commonwealth Office Travel Trends report 2000, reveals that although nearly 15 per cent of Britons are sacrificing a holiday this year, 20 per cent are hoping to take advantage of a last-minute deal.
