People planning to take advantage of potentially cheaper flights resulting from the expansion of Heathrow Airport should buy
backpacker travel insurance.
Travelmole reports that the decision to go ahead with the development of a third runway at London's Heathrow Airport may lead to cheaper flights to destinations across the world. The decision, announced by transport secretary Geoff Hoon, will lead to an increase in the number of flights from the airport and as a result could stimulate further price reductions.
The plans have proved controversial, with environmentalists saying it undermines the UK's green intentions.
Mary Rance, chief executive of UKinbound, said: "As a major international hub and a gateway into the UK and Europe, Heathrow's development is vital to safeguarding the many jobs and other economic benefits that it brings."
Ms Rance added that the additional runway would lead to fewer aircraft circling London as they waited to land.
Cheap travel insurance is recommended for all tourists.
