A high profile dumping of a live shark outside a newspaper office in Australia could remind backpackers to take out
cheap travel insurance.
Although the Port Jackson shark is relatively harmless, it does have two venomous dorsal spines.
It was left outside the front door of the Standard in Warrnambool city in Victoria state last week (April 22nd).
Constable Jarrod Dwyer, who was called to the scene, told state radio: "We arrived and poured some water on it just to see if it was still breathing and it kicked around for a little while."
The shark was subsequently taken to the harbour in a bucket and released back into the ocean.
The news may inspire travellers heading to Australia to take out
gap year travel insurance to cover medical costs in the unlikely event of a shark attack.
According to the Australian Shark Attack File, there have been just 56 human fatalities from sharks in the country in the last 50 years.
