More young people are considering taking gap years and could find
cheap travel insurance a handy addition to their journey planning.
According to eTravelBlackboard.com, backpacker-oriented website gapyear.com reports the lack of jobs currently available for graduates is prompting more people to make internet travel inquiries.
Recession has created a particularly difficult jobs market for graduates to enter and a higher number of young people in work are being made unemployed. As a result, overseas travel plans appear to be rife.
Tom Griffiths, founder of eTravelBlackboard.com, told the website: "The industry should be cautious about forecasts of growth. It's one thing for people to consider an overseas escape route. It's another to actually pack your bags and go."
Mr Griffiths added that although he remained cautious, long-haul flights continued to sell and Round the World travel options were also doing well. Some people may choose to buy
gap year travel insurance.
People being made unemployed are more commonly considering using their redundancy money to fund a long-term backpacking trip.
The Civil Aviation Authority's Aviation Health Unit has advised passengers to exercise their lower limbs during long-haul flights to reduce discomfort.
