Online travel insurance is an option for backpackers thinking they might be interested in visiting a new hostel proposed for Limerick in Ireland.
The Limerick Leader reports planning permission is being sought to convert a former lap-dancing club into a 2 million (£1.9 million) backpacker hostel.
If the proposal is accepted by Limerick city council, the new hostel will eventually offer nearly 90 beds, with separate floors designated for men and women. In addition, larger rooms would cater for bigger groups travelling together.
John McMahon, of McMahon Conroy Architects, told the paper: "We looked at other possible uses [for the building] and after doing market research, we could see that there was a clear need for this."
Dining spaces, laundry facilities and a kitchen area are due to be included in the design, as are a sandwich bar and internet facilities.
Many people buy
backpacker travel insurance and then choose to stay in hostel accommodation to save money on their trip. Despite being low-cost, hostels are increasingly competing with more luxurious hotels by way of a steady improvement in standards.
