Tourism Malaysia reports that more British tourists visited the country through the course of 2008 than from any other country in Europe, revealing a sustained interest among Brits for long-haul travel.
Over 22 million tourists visited from around the world, and arrivals particularly grew from North America and East Asia. The most number of people came from Singapore, which contributed almost half of the tourist visits for 2008.
Mr Amirrudin Abu, acting director general, said for Tourism Malaysia: "I would like to take this opportunity to thank each and every one of our partners in the Malaysian travel trade industry and overseas, as well as members of the media, for doing an excellent job in attaining another milestone in the countrys tourism history."
According to the organisation, visits from European countries expanded on 2007 figures by nearly 22 per cent. People always have the option of buying
