cheap travel insurance.
According to a new Move Monitor Survey from removal firm Pickfords, over 30 per cent more people moved to Australia in 2008 than in 2007, and over 20,000 considered the move to be on a permanent basis.
Australia is keen to attract skilled workers to its shores and many thousands of people have left in search of a better life and warmer weather.
Kevin Pickford, managing director of Pickfords, said: "I'm sure that the quality of life, sunnier climate and diverse job opportunities play a big part in people's relocation decision."
While many people choose to move permanently to Australia, backpackers frequently seek work when they visit the country in order to earn money to fund the next leg of their trip.
Backpacker travel insurance is always an option for travellers.
Less skilled jobs, such as fruit-picking or reception work are more commonly sought by people staying in Australia on a short-term basis.
