An increasing number of backpackers are considering destinations outside of the eurozone due to currency concerns, it has been revealed.
Cheapflights.com has noted a growing number of searches by Britons for flights to locations outside the eurozone as the strength of the euro against the pound makes European travel more expensive.
"With the current issues facing air travel, it's interesting to see the changes that are occurring as Cheapflights' users search for the best value flight deals on both sides of the Atlantic," Chris Cuddy, chief executive of the travel site, commented.
One of the beneficiaries of the euro strength is Orlando, as the number of people searching for flights to the Florida destination has increased by 29 per cent over the last year, and another is New York, which boasts a nine per cent increase.
Backpackers, though, are more likely to be interested in Thailand - so it is not too surprising that more people are looking to fly to the Asian country too with 46.7 per cent more searches recorded.
One thing all backpackers need to consider - regardless of whether they are travelling to the eurozone or elsewhere - is
backpacker travel insurance, especially if they are considering doing something out of the ordinary like white-water rafting.
