Backpackers have been urged to avoid the city of Bangkok in Thailand in the aftermath of violent clashes between anti-government protestors and the military.
Many people may have been planning to visit the city for Songkran, which is Thailand's biggest national festival, but they are being urged to stay away to avoid more potential violence.
Simon Calder, travel editor of the Independent, told Sky News: "I've heard some backpackers are joining in the demonstrations - that is very definitely against the Foreign and Commonwealth Office advice."
He added that hotels and the airport have not reported any problems, although British Airways has said that people due to travel to Bangkok have the option of postponing their flight.
