Britons planning a budget backpacking trip around Europe have the option of buying
worldwide travel insurance.
Hotels throughout Europe remain cheaper than their UK counterparts, providing an appealing prospect for many travellers, according to Hotels.com.
Figures from the website reveal that hotels in Lisbon, Portugal, are an average of £22 cheaper per night than hotels in London, while Prague and Berlin offer the best value on the continent.
Nigel Pocklington, managing director at Hotels.com in Europe, Middle East and Africa, said: "Although it's true that the pound does not buy you as many euros as it used to, there are still several destinations within the eurozone that are cheaper when it comes down to an average room per night than UK cities."
He added that Berlin offers the cheapest nightly rate at £75, while Bath in the UK is the most expensive at £119 per night.
Cheap travel insurance could be a great benefit for people planning a trip round Europe.
Additional figures from Hotel.com reveal that spending two weeks in Lisbon could be nearly £310 cheaper than spending the same period of time in London.
