Backpackers should buy
cheap travel insurance to secure cover for adventure holidays, wherever in the world they may be going.
According to world-first.co.uk, the Association of Independent Tour Operators (Aito) reports more people are taking shorter breaks on adventure holidays, with trips of just a few days starting to become as popular as long-haul journeys to places like Australia and New Zealand. While young people often have months to pursue thrills as part of a gap year or study break, slightly older travellers have less time to play with and so shorter breaks are more convenient.
Ian Bradley, spokesman for Aito, told the website: "We find that people are taking short breaks as well, like you can on adventure holidays. It's not just long haul, it's not just two weeks; it can be anything from three or four days to a week."
Whereas young people often choose to head off to more established adventure destinations, such as Queenstown in New Zealand for bungee jumping or Cairns in Australia for scuba diving, European destinations are becoming popular as well.
