According to new research from Cater Allan Private bank, more Britons are choosing adventurous trips and travelling further afield.
The study found that over 60 per cent are looking to make long-haul trips to destinations such as New Zealand and Australia, while over a quarter of those questioned are keen to go somewhere new where they'll find fewer tourists. Over half are looking to avoid tourists altogether. The research shows a trend developing for people seeking more exotic experiences beyond sandy beaches and the hotel swimming pool.
Rob Yandell, managing editor and publisher of Group Leisure Magazine, said: "Like lots of other areas of travel, people are getting more adventurous, looking for new and exciting worldwide destinations."
The proliferation of cheap flights and instant connectivity through telecommunications has made the world a much smaller place, while young people are eager to see the world before they head off to university.
Travellers are urged to seek appropriate travel insurance before setting off on a trip, regardless of where in the world they are going.
