Travellers opting to confirm the cost of a trip upfront by choosing a package deal could prepare for their holiday with
online travel insurance.
According to holiday operator Thomson and First Choice, many are ensuring they avoid getting caught out by unforeseen costs by paying for flights and accommodation at the same time.
A spokesperson for the firm explained that holidaymakers like to book ahead for a number of reasons, such as "those who work in an environment where they can only go on holidays during certain weeks of the year, but want to travel to a specific property or have a specific requirement, or those booking a larger group who want to ensure they can stay together".
Research published by financial services firm PricewaterhouseCoopers found that half of the people surveyed were now spending more time looking for the right deals than before the recession and 35 per cent only booked special offers.
