Air passengers could buy
online travel insurance for an upcoming trip as the global downturn has left many airlines more susceptible to bankruptcy.
With the number of air travellers falling, prices declining and several budget airlines having collapsed in recent months, EssentialTravel.co.uk has urged people to consider
worldwide travel insurance or other policies when heading overseas.
Travellers are advised to ensure they are covered in case an operator collapses while they are overseas as this could lead to great difficulty getting home.
Stuart Bensusan, director of EssentialTravel.co.uk, said: "Most insurers offer cover for chartered airline collapse, but very few cover in the event of scheduled airline failure. This is despite the fact scheduled airlines make up the bulk of all flights in and out of British airports."
Recent figures from the Foreign and Commonwealth Office show over 40 per cent of Britons are opting to save money by foregoing travel insurance, exposing themselves to greater risks when they head off on their trip.
Going, going, gone. Downunder for
cheap travel insurance.
