Cheap travel insurance is advised for backpackers planning a trip to the Taranaki region of New Zealand.
The Stratford Press reports that new backpacker accommodation has been opened in Taranaki in the western region of New Zealand's North Island. David and Carol Digby already run a successful backpacker hostel in the form of Eastern Taranaki Experience, but they have recently expanded in order to increase their appeal during the winter months.
The couple has renovated a former convent to form the Stratford Heritage Lodge, accommodation that is designed to appeal to so-called 'flashpackers', the name coined for backpackers who have bigger budgets or are prepared to splash out once in a while on more upmarket facilities than they might perhaps be used to.
The lodge offers seven rooms, laundry facilities and a kitchen, while the former chapel has become a lounge with the stained glass windows providing added character.
