Backpacker travel insurance may be worth considering for those planning a stay at the new Great Southern Backpackers hostel in New South Wales, Australia.
The new hostel in the town of Eden offers 14 rooms and is housed in a building behind the Great Southern Inn that used to be a roller skating rink, reports eden.yourguide.com.au.
Guests will have a food preparation area, a common room with a variety of games consoles and a travel information desk, all of which were paid for using $150,000 (£72,588) from the Great Southern Inn and $300,000 (£145,176) from a Securing Our Fishing Future funding package.
Adrian Sandrey, owner of the Great Southern Inn, told the website: "(Builder) Peter Grant did an amazing job, patiently working while we added bits and took bits away. It might be warmer up north but it's the warmth of the people from Eden that will see visitors return."
The project has taken 18 months to complete and also features 51,855 beach-dried bricks which were originally made by convicts.
The coast of New South Wales offers outstanding marine life viewing opportunities.
