Google Street View has been designed as a useful way for travellers to explore New Zealand and Australia as they buy
cheap travel insurance before setting off.
Cars drove around cities in many countries around the world, including New Zealand and Australia, and filmed what they saw. Now the films are available for free through Google. The Street View service effectively allows travellers and prospective tourists to explore much of New Zealand on the internet in a much more immediate sense than was previously possible. This way they can decide where they want to go as they buy
online travel insurance and make other preparations.
According to New Zealand Visa Burea, Geoff Buckley, managing director of Tourism Australia, told the Sydney Morning Herald: "Street View will offer [tourists] a whole new way to research Australia as a holiday destination and will help them plan their trips by taking in-depth virtual tours."
Google Street View is being viewed as a good way to introduce New Zealand and Australian cities in a dynamic way, enabling backpackers to see the country on the street level before even leaving their home.
