Travellers planning a visit to a new jumbo jet hotel are advised to first buy
cheap travel insurance.
A decommissioned jumbo jet has been converted into a fully-functioning hotel in an airport outside Stockholm in Sweden, while maintaining many of the plane's original features. The hotel was designed by Swedish entrepreneur Oscar Dios and offers 25 bedrooms that can take up to 72 guests. It has been built to appeal to a wide range of customers, from business tourists to families and backpackers, with prices starting at just under £30 a night.
Mr Dios told Reuters: "The most challenging part with this project is trying to build something inside a metal hull - it's just really, really tight."
The 25 bedrooms have shared access to nine bathrooms, drawing parallels with more traditional hostel accommodation, while the cockpit has become a honeymoon suite with ensuite facilities. The hotel also offers a lounge on the upper deck.
Backpacker travel insurance is recommended for people planning a trip to Sweden.
