Backpackers researching the cheapest ways to visit overseas destinations may choose to buy one-way travel insurance before beginning their trip.
A spokeswoman from Midlands Co-op Travel said that many travellers are looking to reduce their holiday spending and one of the popular options is to book an all-inclusive trip.
Figures from flight booking website Skyscanner reveal that more Britons, many of whom could be buying
cheap travel insurance, are opting to take a trip to long-haul destinations rather than picking a spot in Europe.
The spokeswoman said: "Holidaymakers are looking at all of their options not just in terms of holidays but also in terms of finances because people are often looking to reduce the amount of spending money they take with them."
She added that cruises are becoming popular as they include accommodation and frequently offer very competitive prices.
According to figures from Skyscanner, online searches through its site related to Bangkok have risen by more than 270 per cent since last year.
