People are advised to buy
cheap travel insurance before setting off to enjoy Britain's historic network of waterways.
The Inland Waterways Association (IWA) has recommended a trip on Britain's canals and rivers for people looking for a more relaxing journey away from home. The UK has 2,200 miles of waterways waiting to be explored by people with one-way travel insurance and 30,000 boats use them every year. British waterways also have a rich history which the IWA will be looking to restore through the course of this year.
Ray Carter, trustee of the Inland Waterways Association, said: "We're trying to preserve something that's 300 years old; that's our aim in life and we're still restoring canals that have been out of use for a hundred years or more."
Canal and river trips are recommended for large groups of friends and can be a great British trip for people looking to save money by travelling somewhere closer to home. With a pub to be found every ten miles or so, relaxing with friends on the water can be a hugely enjoyable experience.
