Worldwide travel insurance is recommended for backpackers seeking Kiwi hospitality in New Zealand.
Otago Daily Times reports that the Wanaka Combined Churches put on their annual Christmas Day feast on 25th December for around 150 backpackers and other travellers who were having Christmas away from family and loved ones. The church members comprised 40 friends and family and involved a meal of chicken, ham and vegetables that was two days in the making.
Jenni McDougall, chief organiser of the meal, told the website: "Many of those who help want to involve their families and children in the Christmas spirit of giving."
The church event remains popular in Wanaka and has been an annual event for the past ten years, serving all manner of people who are away from family and friends over the festive season.
Wanaka is situated in the South Island of New Zealand near to Queenstown, a region which is hugely popular among backpackers owing to adrenaline-fuelled activities such as bungee-jumping and white-water rafting.
