Backpackers looking to spend less on trips abroad always have the option of buying
online travel insurance.
Expedia.co.uk reports that more people are choosing to travel further to destinations where they will get more for their money, with places like Australia and Thailand proving particularly popular.
In addition, there has been a ten per cent surge in the number of people booking holidays within the UK, according to research from travel website lastminute.com.
Jonathan Cudworth, head of product marketing at Expedia.co.uk, said: "[People] are also going to places where eating and drinking out is cheaper but they are willing to spend more money on travelling out and on their hotel."
He added that more people are willing to pay extra costs for travel if their final destination offers greater value.
Cheap travel insurance could be favoured by backpackers journeying to far-flung corners of the globe.
Around 60 per cent of Britons plan to defy growing concerns over job security and take all the holiday leave owed to them this year, according to Expedia.
