Backpackers near the Thar desert, in the heart of India, will most likely be enjoying the final day of the Pushkar Camel Fair today (November 13th).
What originated as a large camel market, the Pushkar fair now attracts thousands to its three-day event, which includes camel racing amongst other sites such as the singing, dancing and elaborately-dressed camels.
The event takes place during the full moon, meaning it coincides precisely with the Hindu festival of Katrik Purnima and so the streets of Pushkar will no doubt be jam-packed with all of India; especially holy men and touts.
Amid all the colour and noise it can be easy to forget to keep drinking water, and the energy can be overwhelming so it is important for backpackers to check their travel insurance before planning a trip.
Even
cheap travel insurance policies tend to cover basic health costs but not checking beforehand could be costly.
