People looking to take part in peer-to-peer camping through a travel website should first buy
online travel insurance.
According to Times Online, the establishment of Couchsurfing.com expanded cheap travel options for thousands of backpackers across the world when it was officially launched in 2004. Web consultant Casey Fenton established the site to provide a network on which budget travellers could chat and lend their sofa to people looking for a free night's sleep in a faraway city.
Now, smartcompany.com.au reports that new website Single Spot Camping.com has expanded on the concept by setting up a network allowing landowners to advertise camping space for budget travellers. Money is intended to exchange hands with this particular arrangement, but the set-up is still thought to offer a more personal travel experience than staying in a purpose-built campsite.
One-way travel insurance is recommended for anyone planning a trip overseas, in case of any mishaps along the way.
