The former England captain is to appear alongside California governor Arnold Schwarzenegger in an advert aiming to attract overseas visitors.
A source told the Sun that the advert would be part of a "massive campaign".
"It shows the governor believes David is a big catch in getting tourists to visit," he added.
According to the paper, Brothers and Sisters actor Rob Lowe will also be appearing in the advert.
Earlier reports had suggested that Mr Beckham could be planning a transfer to Italy's AC Milan following a hostile reception from fans of his own team LA Galaxy.
In other news, Australians have chosen their own celebrity to front a tourism campaign.
Aussies judged X-Men star Hugh Jackman as their ideal face of the country in a recent poll.
