Backpackers are encouraged to purchase
cheap travel insurance when they plan their trip in defiance of the global financial crisis.
According to the Association of British Travel Agents (Abta), few Britons are willing to abandon their annual travel plans despite the credit crunch continuing to grip the global economy. That said, many may choose different destinations where they can get more for their money in a climate where the pound is beginning to lose its value.
Frances Tuke, a spokeswoman for Abta, said: "Turkey and Egypt are also seeming to do quite well for next year as they seem to be quite good value options, and any destinations that can offer that will do well."
A new study from Opinium Research conducted on behalf of travelsupermarket.com, shows that nearly 80 per cent of people surveyed consider prices as the primary concern when choosing where to head to on their travels.
Online travel insurance is recommended for backpackers heading on an overseas trip.
