He explained: "The main attractions are the strong currency so the conversion of the pound to the South African rand and also being in the same time zone. It is such a diverse destination.
"You can find Cape Town which is a bit like Barcelona. You can do a normal safari without malaria issues and next year we are hosting the World Cup."
He added that people travelling to Cape Town will find new hotels springing up over the next few weeks and months in preparation for the World Cup, which takes place throughout the country next summer.
Earlier this month, a study by travelsupermarket.com suggested South Africa as being popular for safaris and whale watching.
