Online travel insurance customers planning to visit the Rainbow Nation next year for the Fifa World Cup may be encouraged to hear organisers say everything is on track for a successful event.
With just 219 days before the tournament kicks off, the local organising committee has confirmed its plans are on schedule.
Speaking to the South African parliament yesterday (November 3rd), committee boss Danny Jordaan said roads and airports, the building of 25 new hotels and the introduction of additional buses and airplanes would all be ready for the influx of international sportsmen and fans.
According to official estimates, the World Cup is expected to attract 450,000 football enthusiasts, generating 30 billion Rand (£2.3 billion) to the nation's economy.
With the final draw taking place on December 4th, Mr Jordaan told tourism officials there will be a rush to buy tickets when the next ticket-buying phase opens the next day.
The tournament will run between June 11th and July 11th 2010 with the first match taking place in Johannesburg's Soccer City stadium.
