The travel destination of South Africa has received special attention recently from Travelwires.com editor Leoni Benghiat.
With the football World Cup due to arrive in South Africa in 2010, major transport infrastructures around the country are being revamped to make the best impression to the visiting international audiences.
According to one report, the Airports Company of South Africa is investing £300 million into renovating the international airports Tambo International, Cape Town and Durban.
Ms Benghiat said of the country: "South Africa continues to win awards: aside from triumphing in numerous Best In Africa categories, South African service providers also scored big in the Overall Worldwide categories at the 2007 World Travel Awards."
Despite reports of violence in some cities, tourism in South Africa remains strong, and it is expected to go from strength to strength during and after the World Cup.
A large percentage of visitors to South Africa visit Cape Town, to view and climb Table Mountain, as well as visit the vineyards which are within driving distance of the city.
