Launched yesterday, the Great Kiwi Invite campaign is encouraging islanders to send out a personalised animated email invitation to friends and family.
Recipients of the email will then go into a prize-draw and could win one of 15 pairs of flights to New Zealand.
Announcing the new initiative, the country's prime minister John Key said: "It's about having 4.4 million ambassadors."
The launch of the campaign comes as the 100 per cent Pure New Zealand campaign celebrates its 10th anniversary.
Last week saw the release of news that construction is expected to start on seven new cycle routes in New Zealand this summer.
Tourism New Zealand said that the network of "great rides" would attract cyclists from around the world.
