From November, social media firm Bebo will track the intrepid travellers over four weeks as they explore the landscape, take in Kiwi culture and tackle new challenges.
Every weekday, the gappers will post a short video of their experiences on Bebo's the Gap Year page, while fans can keep up with their exploits via Facebook and Twitter.
Each week viewers will choose who they want to send home, after watching competitors battle it out in the challenges.
Online auditions to win a place on the show are still open for Bebo users in the UK and Ireland.
Those interested in taking part must complete a series of web-based tasks before the Bebo community votes on the final selection.
The competition has already attracted nearly 7,000 fans on the social networking site.
