British backpackers hoping to take part in an innovative New Zealand video promotion should buy
worldwide travel insurance first.
A few months ago Tourism NZ put together an innovative promotional video featuring a range of British backpackers discussing their experiences of the country. The television campaign, entitled 'What do you say UK?' was deemed a great success and so a new campaign will follow it up, giving British backpackers the opportunity to film their thoughts in a portable studio. Edited highlights will be posted on YouTube, emailed across the world and broadcast on UK television next year.
John Key, New Zealand's prime minister and minister for tourism, said: "This initiative is harnessing new technology and marketing through social networking in a way which will allow people to talk directly and immediately to those at home about their time in New Zealand."
The campaign intends to encourage more Britons to visit New Zealand by spreading word-of-mouth enthusiasm from their contemporaries. All visitors should first buy
backpacker travel insurance.
