Britons spending time in America could buy
online travel insurance if they are inspired by a new marketing campaign to move on to New Zealand.
The New Zealand Herald reports Tourism New Zealand has spent $3 million (£1.2 million) on a new campaign designed to encourage more Americans to visit the country, following a significant decline in numbers during January this year.
The organisation's research has found many Americans claim visits to New Zealand have changed their lives. In response, the new campaign is promising to give "life back" to visitors.
George Hickton, chief executive of Tourism New Zealand, told the paper: "Part of a problem at the moment is lack of awareness. Our research showed those who know more about New Zealand and have a better understanding of what we offer are more likely to come here."
A 30-second television advert will be accompanied by two 90-second pieces advertising all the different experiences New Zealand has to offer.
Regions of New Zealand such as Queenstown in the South Island are especially popular with backpackers as they offer spectacular scenery and exhilarating experiences like white-water rafting.
