Backpacker travel insurance is a good idea for travellers planning a budget visit to the New Zealand wilds.
A new study from the Bank of New Zealand-Business NZ Performance of Services Index, has revealed that smaller businesses in the country are generally performing better than larger ones against the backdrop of global economic turbulence. The New Zealand summer is now reaching its height and many backpackers are heading to the country's popular tourist destinations.
Tim Cossar, chief executive of the Tourism Industry Association, said: "Some sectors within the industry are doing okay. Notably, backpackers, holiday parks and motels, many of whom are reliant on domestic and Australian markets."
Backpacker hostels are benefitting from a rise in the number of Australian and New Zealand tourists seeking a lower-cost holiday, while many international travellers remain unaffected by the global downturn and have bought
worldwide travel insurance to protect against any mishaps.
