People planning on catching the Rugby Sevens competition in Wellington, New Zealand, could benefit from
backpacker travel insurance.
The event on February 6th and 7th presents a good opportunity for backpackers to sample the vibrant Wellington culture while also getting the chance to mix thousands of other rugby fans.
Stuff.co.nz reports that local businesses in the New Zealand capital have been preparing for the event for several months as it can attract nearly 50,000 sports fans, including 10,000 who won't have tickets for the competition itself.
Jamie Wilson, general manager of the city's Temperance bar, told the website: "We've ordered 150 kegs, we have refrigerated trailers outside with extra stock and we will be taking the rubbish away in skips ... It's the largest weekend of the year for us."
Backpackers who arrive without having pre-booked may find themselves with nowhere to stay due to the sheer number of fans in the city.
Wellington is situated across the Cook Strait from New Zealand's South Island and its urban region has a population of around 382,000.
