People visiting the shoot locations of Oscar-winning films could find one-way travel insurance to be a handy purchase.
New figures from Skyscanner show that bookings for holidays to Mumbai in India have soared by 100 per cent since the film Slumdog Millionaire was released and this figure could rise even further since the film won several Oscars last weekend.
Similarly, although the film Australia has not performed as expected at the international box-office, it has nonetheless boosted tourism in a country traditionally favoured by backpackers.
Rob Innes, head of marketing for Skyscanner, said: "Skyscanner's data shows that countries can expect to see a significant boost to tourism when they are featured in a film. Movies are effectively one giant advert for a country."
Mr Innes added that the spectacular global success of The Lord of the Rings trilogy gave a similar boost to tourism in New Zealand, where the films were shot, for several years.
