Backpackers are advised to buy
online travel insurance before taking advantage of a new virtual tour guide available in New Zealand.
Rental cars in New Zealand have been fitted with a virtual tour guide that uses GPS technology to offer relevant tourism information to visitors in any one of 1,600 different locations around the country. Tourism Radio registers a car's location and then accesses the relevant information from a total 80 hours of material on local attractions, entertainment and accommodation.
Hayden Braddock, managing director of Tourism Radio New Zealand and Australia, said: "Tourism Radio's unique IntelliPoint system draws the driver's attention to prominent landmarks and highlights as the vehicle approaches them, making sure the tourist doesn't miss any key attractions."
The new service should prove popular with motoring visitors with
backpacker travel insurance looking for extra help in finding their way around New Zealand.
Tourism Radio will be voiced with New Zealand accents and phrases to help communicate the national culture.
Downunder, experts for
great travel insurance when travelling to the land of the long white cloud.
