Travellers heading to hospitable New Zealand are urged to buy
backpacker travel insurance before setting off on their trip.
The New Zealand Herald reports new figures from the Regional Visitor Monitor revealing that the country's world-famous landscapes were its chief appeal. That said, over 80 per cent of visitors also expected friendly people, and the vast majority of tourists were very happy with their experiences.
Steve Bassett, research manager for the organisation, said: "It is very encouraging to see that satisfaction levels of finding 'friendly people' are extremely high."
New Zealand has enjoyed an unprecedented global profile in recent years, largely through its stunning scenery and backpacker-friendly extreme sports and outdoor activities, some of which require separate
online travel insurance. It is also recognised as one of the safest travel destinations in the world.
The country's economy is entering a downturn in line with similar events around the world, but the government plans to use tourism to help fight recession.
Worldwide travel insurance is recommended for travellers heading out to the New Zealand.
