Thousands of travellers are expected to join artists from across the globe in flocking to the forthcoming Auckland Festival in New Zealand.
Though perhaps better known for its adventure sports, with millions of backpackers having checked their
gap year travel insurance policies and jumped off a bridge or out of a plane on the country's North Island, the month of March will see its largest city transformed into a Mecca for culture lovers.
Around 200 acts are already scheduled to appear at the festival, including those from Russia, Japan, Canada, Germany, Papua New Guinea and, of course, New Zealand itself.
Among the highlights will be the country's national symphony orchestra's performance of Mahler's majestic third symphony, as well as a rare Down Under gig from French-Irish singer Camille O'Sullivan.
However, those looking for something a bit more adrenaline-pumping from their trip to New Zealand should get their travel insurance up to scratch and dive into its famous extreme-sports scene, with bungee jumping, skiing and white-water rafting massively popular across both islands.
