Small operator Adventure Tours is to offer group trips in New Zealand through a new partnership with Stray.
The operator will organise cost-effective trips aimed at backpackers and other travellers moving on a budget, and will run excursions in small groups to make the experience more personal. The company will take people to areas off the beaten track and will arrange trekking and mountain-biking among a wide range of other activities. It will work with Stray, a specialist bus service that deals with similar trips.
Neil Geddes, executive director of Stray, told scoop.co.nz: "Adventure Tours fills a gap between the backpacker hop-on hop-off bus environment and the more organised tours aimed at the older or more expensive end of the market."
New Zealand is one of the most popular destinations in the world for both young people seeking adventure, and older travellers looking for a more relaxed experience.
The country's international profile has surged in recent years and there is now a greater demand for organised trips to more remote parts of the country, such as the Southern Alps in South Island.
